Episode 128// The Yoga of Transparent

January 21st, 2015

Sweet friends,

I am so glad you are here to practice together on Samadhi Rush. Today's class is a full-length gentle hatha class recorded LIVE at my Saturday morning class at The People's Yoga here in Portland.

Today's class was inspired by my LOVE of the Amazon Original show Transparent. (It is so good. And it just won some Golden Globes.) We begin class with a deep, heart-felt conversation about the desire to be seen and the challenge of seeing each other through our own thoughts. Such wisdom in community. So grateful for the sharing of this class. So grateful for you for being here.

Attention follows our interest.

Episode 127// Princess on the Inside

January 13th, 2015

Hello Sweetest One,

Welcome to Episode 127: a truly gentle yoga class that is SO near and dear to my heart. We talk about the book A Little Princess, By Frances Hodgson Burnett. The nectar of this story is that no matter what happens to us, no matter how circumstances change, we can choose how to feel and how to act. We can be a princess no matter what. (Princess in this book means more about kindness, generosity and ease than any of the cultural references we might currently associate with being a princess.)

SO happy to be here with you.

Episode 125// Now Is Now

December 31st, 2014

Happy New Year, Sweet People!

Thank you for sharing your practice with the Sunrose Yoga Community.

I am really excited to share this week's class with you. I taught this class right as my daughter and I finished reading Little House in the Big Woods, by Laura Ingalls Wilder. Such a good book. I have so many memories of this series as a child-- partially because I grew up not too far from Laura Ingalls Wilder's childhood home in Burr Oak, Iowa, which we visited a few times. Anyhow, in spite of having read this book as a child, I had forgotten the mindful presence of its words and was particularly struck by the final paragraphs. Now is now. And now is the best time because now cannot be forgotten. This has become a kind of mantra for me in this season. Now is now.

Do any of you remember when this podcast was called Samadhi Rush? It was. I've decided to return to our roots and over the next couple of months the podcast will make the transition. Not much will change for you as a listener and reader, but for me it feels like I am reclaiming my reasons for starting down this path to begin with. (More on that later. Promise.)

This is an all-levels class with a deep core focus. So glad you could join us for practice.

All love to you in 2015.

LOVE & Gratitude to you all! Thank you for being here.

She supports individuals in understanding more about themselves and how they connect to their world. Andrea also encourages social responsibility, day to day mindfulness, attention, and physical wellness. She helps to inspire a lifestyle that is vibrant and alive. She offers practical and supportive guidance for living life with less stress, more connection, and greater passion.

Episode 121// Truth & Bravery

December 3rd, 2014

In this episode, we talk about Satya// Truth. Satya is one of the yamas on the eight-limbed path of yoga as described by Patanjali. Aligning with truth/honesty/integrity requires bravery, so we support our practice with some inner fine-tuning: pranayama (breath & energy work), abhaya mudra (i am not afraid) and some deeply supportive movements.

This is what my friend Meghan calls "next-level yoga". It is slow and subtle. It is suitable for all levels of practice and if you find yourself feeling bored, anxious, mad or blissed-out, you are onto something!

Thank you for being here.

LOVE.
